An international creative association of film studios from the CIS countries and Georgia is being created

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Well-known film studios have pooled their creative and production resources and decided to create an alliance.

Dushanbe hosted the IV Board of Directors of film studios of the CIS countries and Georgia on cooperation in the field of cinematography. The Council was attended by leading film studios of the CIS countries and Georgia, including representatives of the film concern "Uzbekfilm", the Agency of Cinematography of the Republic of Uzbekistan, State Institution "Tojikfilm", National Film Studio "Belarusfilm", JSC "Kazakhfilm" named after Shaken Aimanov, JSC "Tvorchesko- production association "St. Petersburg Studio of Documentary Films", "Georgia-Film", the National Center of Cinematography of Moldova, film concerns "Mosfilm", "Lenfilm" and "Turkmenfilm", studio "Lendok" (St. Petersburg) and others.

The members of the Council unanimously decided to create an alliance under the working title "International Creative Union of Film Studios of the CIS and Georgia." The created working group was instructed to form the charter and structure of the association, after which the documentation will be agreed in the prescribed manner with the state authorities of the countries of the founders of the Association.

Vladimir Karachevsky, General Director of Belarusfilm, cited Uzbekistan as a positive example of cooperation, which in the first half of this year presents 4 films with Russia, signed contracts for the production of 2 films with Belarusfilm (Uzbek, Kazbek), 3 -x pictures with Kazakhstan ("Neighbours", "Echelons go to the East", "Kurkut-Ota"), 2 pictures with Tajikistan ("Jami and Navoi" and "Invisible Star"). “This is a vivid example of cooperation that works to improve the quality of partnerships, enter mutual markets and pool creative and economic resources in film production,” said the director general of Belarusfilm. “Together with Uzbekistan, we plan to create a new painting dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the legendary Yakub Kolos, who lived in Tashkent from 1941 to 1943 and was friends with Uzbek poets Hamid Alimdjan and Zulfiya. At the same time, we understand that this cooperation should be systematic and regular. This requires new mechanisms, which is why we are creating a film community and unanimously adopted this version of the cooperation model, taking the experience of Uzbekistan as a basis,” he said.

General Director of "Tajikfilm" Mahmadsaid Shohiyon said that the new structure will have an exclusively creative and production focus. “We are not a political organization and do not pursue political ideas. It is important for us to unite as a means for the development of the film industry of our countries and the development of film markets, which can give a new impetus to national film schools and the development of the film industry in general.”

– Today we need to restore the links that used to be between the studios of the republics, to cooperate, to find common themes for film production. I welcome this event and am ready to guarantee that we, for our part, will find opportunities for joint work and exchange of experience,” said Karen Shakhnazarov, General Director of the Mosfilm film concern, in his video message.

The members of the organization agreed on the creation of a single golden collection of films from the CIS countries and Georgia, its dubbing into world languages. The issues of promotion and distribution of the best examples of film studios of the member countries of the alliance in the global film space were also discussed.
