An industrial center to open in the border areas of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today the 16th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization was held in the capital of Uzbekistan. It was attended by the heads of state and government of Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Turkiye.

As part of the Summit, an Agreement was signed between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan on regulating the activities of the International Center for Industrial Cooperation “Central Asia”.

The facility will be located near the Atameken and Gulistan checkpoints and will include production sites, warehouses for storing goods and equipment, as well as transport infrastructure.

It is expected that this will speed up the delivery of goods and reduce logistics costs.

Objectives of the Center are:

creating favorable conditions for the development of interstate cooperation ties and international value chains;

increasing the efficiency of using the production base of border territories;

optimization of production processes, modernization and increasing the competitiveness of industrial enterprises in the Center;

expanding industrial cooperation between the two states and establishing the production of import-substituting products, etc.
