An exclusive exhibition of Kushan Treasures to open in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 22 August, within the framework of the large-scale project of the Cultural Heritage Week “Uzbekistan is a crossroads of roads and civilizations: empires, religions, cultures”, an exclusive exhibition “Kushan Treasures” will open in the Gallery of Fine Arts of Uzbekistan. The rarest artifacts of the times of the mysterious and once powerful Kushan empire, which arose on the territory of Central Asia in the middle of the 1st century AD, will be exhibited.

Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov called on media representatives to tell the population of Uzbekistan more about the great history and unique culture of our country, promoting such promising areas for tourism as a storehouse of archaeological finds - Surkhandarya region, the cradle of human development - the Fergana Valley and other regions of the country. “Now we should think about the fact that tourists visit not only Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva, but also such promising areas as Surkhandarya, Fergana Valley and other regions of the country.

In this case, a large role is played by representatives of the media who can tell our people about the history and culture of the once great Great Kushan Empire in Uzbekistan and the rarest artifacts of this era, which will be on display at the upcoming exhibition, ”Aziz Abdukhakimov said.

“The exhibition “The Treasures of the Kushans ”is held in Tashkent for the first time, due to numerous requests from international scholars. It is exclusive and unique, its feature is the demonstration of the legendary Kushan gold found at the excavations of the ancient city of Dalverzin-tepa in the Surkhandarya region in 1972 by a team of archaeologists under the leadership of academician E. Rtveladze, ”said D.Temirhodjaev, director of the Gallery of Fine Arts of Uzbekistan, at the event.

“At the moment, negotiations are underway to obtain the Kushan treasure. We have previously selected about 47 exhibits, which have been submitted for approval to the Ministry of Culture and will be presented at the exhibition,” he added.

The cultural heritage week “Uzbekistan is a crossroads of roads and civilizations: empires, religion, culture” will be held August 22-27 in four cities of Uzbekistan - Tashkent, Termez, Bukhara and Khiva.

The event expressed the desire to take part about 300 scientists from around the world, more than 50 foreign media will cover this great event. The exclusive exhibition “The Treasures of the Kushans” will be open to the public for 10 days.
