An attempt to smuggle jewelry worth 550 million soums was foiled At Tashkent Airport
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — An attempt to illegally import jewelry was prevented at Tashkent International Airport, according to the press service of the Tashkent-AERO customs complex.
On 7 August, customs officers detained a passenger arriving from Bishkek who attempted to smuggle silver and gold jewelry adorned with diamonds, concealed in his underwear.
The total weight of the confiscated items amounted to 412 grams, with an estimated value of 550 million soums. A preliminary investigation is currently underway.
