Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In Samarkand region, law enforcement officers carried out an operation, as a result of which an arms dealer was arrested. This was reported by the press service of the State Security Service (SSS) of Uzbekistan.

A 46-year-old man, with a previous conviction for illegal trafficking of potent or toxic substances and smuggling, was detained while trying to sell a Makarov pistol for US$10,000. The pistol included 96 rounds of ammunition.

During the arrest and subsequent investigation, SSS officers inspected the man’s house and discovered an entire arsenal, including cartridges, weapon parts, an antique pistol, knives and other bladed weapons.

The man faces up to 20 years in prison under Article 248 Part 3 (Sales of firearms, ammunition, explosives or explosive devices).
