An agroinnovation center to be created in Tashkent with the support of scientists from Kalmykia

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Kalmyk State University will help scientists of Uzbekistan create an Agroinnovation Center in Tashkent in 2024, which will specialize in the development of new technologies for the selection and reproduction of farm animals. the rector of Kalm State University Badma Salayev said.

“We signed an agreement with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the creation of a joint Agroinnovation Center in Tashkent next year. The innovation laboratory will develop new technologies for the reproduction of farm animals, selection and implementation of technology for small ruminants and cattle of the Kalmyk breed, which is of great interest to colleagues,” he said.

This will be the first export of technology for the reproduction of farm animals, developed on the basis of the only regional research and production center (RPC) for their reproduction in the south of Russia at Kalmyk State University, the rector explained. The authorities of Uzbekistan have appreciated the scientific developments of Kalmykia scientists and are ready to invest resources in the creation of an innovation laboratory where KalmSU scientists will teach new biotechnologies and conduct breeding work, he added.

Kalmyk University has entered into several agreements with universities included in the top 10 higher education institutions in Central Asia. In particular, projects are planned with the Tashkent State Agrarian University (TSAU) on the internationalization of science, educational programs and training of future personnel. In November, a delegation from the university will come to Elista to sign documents on the implementation of the network program in veterinary medicine “2+2”, the internship of TSAU teachers at the Republican Scientific and Practical Center of Kalm State University to teach new technologies, the university’s press service said.

It was previously reported that a cryobank of beef bulls to form the best gene pool, created in the only regional research and production center for their reproduction at Kalm State University in the south of Russia, will be launched before the end of 2023. The cryobank of the best representatives of the breed that have passed a thorough selection will help to mass-produce frozen semen to breeding farms and improve the reproduction of farm animals. It is planned that every year up to 100 beef production bulls will be assessed for their own productivity and the quality of their offspring. The research and production center will begin working with the Kalmyk breed of cattle.
