Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the forty-third plenary session of the Senate, the Law “On Amendments and Additions to the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Volunteering” was considered.

It was noted that in recent years the country has created a legal framework aimed at developing volunteer activities, supporting social initiatives of citizens, strengthening their responsibility, solidarity and skills of mutual assistance in solving social problems.

At the same time, the further development of volunteering requires support for this activity, strengthening cooperation between state bodies and subjects engaged in volunteering, assisting volunteers in solving social problems, recognizing their merits and improving mechanisms to encourage their activities.

This Law introduces changes that envisage the empowerment of the Cabinet of Ministers and local government bodies with the authority to develop, approve state targeted programs in the field of volunteering and ensure their implementation.

In addition, the Agency for Youth Affairs under the Ministry of Youth Policy and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan is determined by a specially authorized state body in the field of volunteering.

For according to statistics, 80% of the members of volunteer groups are young people.

According to the law, the Agency for Youth Affairs will be empowered to participate in the implementation of state policy in the field, prepare draft regulations, develop and implement targeted programs, make proposals for improving legislation, and develop international cooperation in the field of volunteering.

In turn, members of the Senate, during the discussion of the Law, emphasized that the changes and additions being made serve to increase the responsibility of the executive authorities of the republic in the development of volunteer activity and further encourage volunteer activity.

The senators also expressed confidence that the adoption of this Law will serve to increase the number of good initiatives in our country, especially among young people.

The law was approved by the senators.
