Finance 18/04/2007 Aloqa Bank, China Development Bank sign memorandum of understanding

A delegation of China Development Bank led by its Assistant Governor Zhao Jianping met Deputy Prime Minister and director-general of Uzbek Agency for Communication and Information Abdulla Aripov.

 

The sides noted that agreements of leaders of two states serve important legal base for development of cooperation in all directions, including in communication and information technologies sphere.

 

Head of Chinese delegation praised reforms in Uzbekistan, which directed to introduction of new technologies in communication and information system, modernization of communication networks and improvement of service quality.

 

The sides exchanged opinion on development and realization of joint projects in introduction of modern telecommunication technologies, production of high technology products and training of specialists.

 

On 17 April, Aloqa Bak of Uzbekistan and China Development Bank signed agreement. The agreement envisages to allocate US$15.56 million to purchase solutions of Huawei Technologies to lease to Uzbektelecom. Total cost of the project is US$18.8 million and Aloqa Bank issued US$2.4 million to finance projects, while Uzbektelecom allocates US$2.97 million. The Chinese credit issued for 8 years.

 

Currently, Uzbektelecom is realizing project on reconstruction and development of telecommunication network. The project stipulates to change old-dated equipment to digital ones and increase capacity of telecommunication networks.

 

Two banks also signed memorandum of understanding. The memorandum envisages co-financing of projects in telecommunication and other sectors.

 

On 17 April, the Chinese delegation left for Bukhara and Samarkand to acquaint with local sites.
