Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In August 2022, the Business Activity Index (BAI), calculated by the Center for Economic Research and Reforms, amounted to 1,072 points, and increased by 7.2% compared to the previous month. And also there is a more than 14 percent increase in BAI in relation to the same period of last year.

The following changes were observed in the BAI components.

The business activity index in August 2022 increased by 7.2% compared to the previous month and amounted to 1,072 points, due to changes in the following components:

• the number of transactions on bank accounts of economic entities increased by 12.9%;

• component of operating economic entities increased by 0.8%;

•intensity of purchases of raw materials on the Commodity Exchange increased by 6.4%;

• The brand component declined moderately by 1.2%.

In the regional context, Syrdarya region showed the highest growth.

In August 2022, the BAI for all 14 regions increased compared to the previous month. Syrdarya (67.5%), Namangan (41.9%), Fergana (22.5%) regions and the Republic of Karakalpakstan (33.4%) showed significant growth.

OPERATIONS WITH BANK ACCOUNTS

The number of interbank payment transactions in August 2022 amounted to 5,722.6 thousand and increased by 652.2 thousand transactions (an increase of 12.9%) compared to July 2022.

The number of banking operations in 12 regions increased.

In August 2022, the number of banking transactions between legal entities increased in 12 regions compared to the previous month. In particular, the most significant growth was observed in Tashkent (18.0%), in the Republic of Karakalpakstan (10.6%), Fergana (10.3%) and Bukhara (10.1%) regions. At the same time, a decline was observed in the Syrdarya (-8.0%) and Kashkadarya (-1.4%) regions.

ACTIVITY ON THE COMMODITY EXCHANGE

In August 2022, the exchange component of the BAI was 1.0644. This means a 6.4% increase in the level of the component, compared to the previous month, which is associated with an increase in the number of transactions by 13.3%. At the same time, the average physical volume of goods purchased in each transaction decreased moderately by 0.4%.

At the Republican Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange, the total turnover in August 2022 amounted to 7,357.4 billion soums, which is 8.1% more compared to the previous month.

ACTIVITY OF BUSINESS SUBJECTS

The component of operating economic entities in August 2022 amounted to 1.0077, which means an increase in the component by 0.8% compared to the previous month. This indicator also has a positive value in relation to the same period last year with an increase of 9.4%.

The number of operating economic entities in August 2022 increased by 5,386 units compared to the previous month of 2022 (610,041 units) and amounted to 615,427 units.

The number of large enterprises decreased by 21 units.

During the reporting period, the number of small enterprises increased from 498,214 to 503,426 units (an increase of 5,212 units). Also, the number of farms increased from 108,273 to 108,426 units (an increase of 153 units). The number of operating large enterprises amounted to 3,575 units, which is an increase of 21 units compared to July 2022.

BRAND REGISTRATION

In August 2022, the protected trademark index stood at 0.9883, a moderate decline of 1.2% from the previous month. In August of this year, 337 trademarks and trade names were registered by legal entities.
