Alexander Lukashenko sworn in as President of Belarus

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A ceremonial inauguration of Alexander Lukashenko, elected President of Belarus following the 26 January elections, took place today in Minsk. The event was held in the Hall of Ceremonies of the Palace of Independence and was attended by more than 1,100 guests, according to BELTA.

Chairman of the Central Election Commission, Igor Karpenko, officially announced Lukashenko's assumption of office, emphasizing that the elections were conducted democratically and in full compliance with the law.

Placing his hand on the Constitution, Lukashenko took the oath in Belarusian, pledging to serve the people, protect citizens' rights, and uphold the country's fundamental law. After the national anthem was performed, he signed the oath document and received his presidential certificate.

In the January 26 election, Lukashenko secured 5,136,293 votes (86.82%). The Central Election Commission officially confirmed the results on February 3. This marks his seventh consecutive term as President.

In his inaugural speech, Lukashenko reaffirmed his commitment to stability, social justice, and national development.

A new government is expected to be formed soon, along with the announcement of key domestic and foreign policy priorities.
