Alcohol sellers to be relocated to new places
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan issued a resolution “On measures on implementation of law of Uzbekistan “On limiting dissemination and consumption of alcohol and tobacco products” in the sphere of retail trade and catering”.

According to the document, trade points, realizing alcohol and tobacco products in radius of less than 500 meters from educational, sport and religious institutions, should be relocated to new places, but not later than 1 October 2012.

In line with the resolution, current trade objects will have right to continue their operation till their dislocation to new place in line with the permission on retail trade of alcohol and tobacco products till 1 October 2012.

The government created a working group on consideration of placement of existing trade objects, which realize alcohol products.

The group will conduct inventory of existing trade objects, selling alcohol and tobacco products, and prepare proposals on their relocation to new places with indicating concrete terms of movement.

Local administrations in the regions were ordered to help businesses at relocation process.

Uzbekistan adopted a law “On limiting dissemination and consumption of alcohol and tobacco products” in October 2011. The law comes into force on 7 April 2012.

The law is directed at protecting health of children, first of all those under 21, from negative impact of alcohol and tobacco consumptions, related social and other negative consequences, creating organizational and legal conditions for forming healthy life style.

The law introduces ban for realization of alcohol and tobacco products at trade objects, located in the radius of less than 500 meters from educational, sport and religious institutions.
