Akramjon Nematov: It is necessary to intensify cooperation between the OTC countries in the field of transport infrastructure development

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Tashkent is hosting the 8th Meeting of Official Centers for Foreign Policy Research of member countries and observers of the Organization of Turkic States.

Akramjon Nematov, First Deputy Director of ISMI, made a presentation at the session “Transport and logistics interconnectedness of the OTS member countries: innovative technologies and digital services to create a competitive supply chain”.

The representative of ISMI stressed the importance of developing more effective mechanisms within the Organization to promote transport connectivity. In this regard, the expert made a number of suggestions.

First, according to him, it is necessary to create a permanent Council for the Development of Transport Interconnection, consisting of the heads of transport, trade and customs departments of the OTS member countries. It is important to actively involve the private sector and the scientific community specializing in the transport and transit sector in its work.

Secondly, to establish the Transport and Logistics Association of the OTS countries, which will unite various specialized associations in our countries. The structure will provide comprehensive support to the activities of private transport and logistics companies in the development of interaction.

Thirdly, Akramjon Nematov considers it important to create a network of transport universities of the OTS countries in order to develop and implement innovative solutions for the overall development of the transport and logistics potential of the Turkic space.

At the same time, as Akramjon Nematov emphasized, the priorities of work in these areas should be:

- effective use of existing and creation of new transport corridors in the OTS space;

- digitalization and integration of transport systems of the OTS countries;

- development of international multimodal freight traffic, related infrastructure of transport communications;

- improving the environmental safety of transport infrastructure;

- expansion of cooperation in the field of education, research and exchange of experience in the transport and logistics sector.

The expert meeting, organized for the first time in Uzbekistan by the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, brought together over 60 prominent representatives of the leading think tanks of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Hungary, as well as the OTS Secretariat.
