Akbar Hakimov: Asrlar Sadosi is mobile festival
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Fund Forum hosted a press conference dedicated to the Fifth Festival of Traditional Culture “Asrlar Sadosi”, which will be held on 5-6 May 2012 in Nukus and Ellikalla district of Karakalpakstan Republic.

Participants of the seminar noted that Asrlar Sadosi in Karakalpakstan will attract great international attention to this region and significantly help to preserve and develop traditional culture, art and craftsmanship in Karakalpakstan.

Holida Kamilova, chairperson of Uzbekistan Designers Association “Osiyo Ramzi”, said that Festival of national costumes, which is organized within Asrlar Sadosi, will differ from similar events. She said that the organizers paid attention ethnographic and historic costumes. Kamilova underlined that organization of festival in various regions help to study history and peculiarities of local traditional costumes.

She said that this year festival will play attention to Karakalpak traditional costumes and Karakalpak designers, who participated in such projects as Art Week Style.uz and Festival Children Fashion “Bolajonlar-shirintoylar”. Before creating costumes, the designers study history of costumes in the region, their peculiarities and consult with specialists. She added that the festival tries to cover all regions of Uzbekistan.

Designers will present collections of costumes from various regions of Uzbekistan. It is expected that foreign fashion designers will attend the festival, she added.

Akbar Hakimov, academician of Uzbekistan Art Academy, said Asrlar Sadosi is migrating and mobile festival, which allows people with familiarize with culture, history and traditions of the regions and historic sights of Uzbekistan.

He said that previous festivals revealed Islamic culture of Uzbekistan, this year the festival will present ancient culture before Islam epoch. Tuprok-kala is an ancient city of the first-fourth century A.D., where ancient manuscripts and sculptures were found.

Festival Asrlar Sadosi is important took in development of culture of Uzbekistan, which allows to preserve ancient types of national art and craftsmanship, as well called to enrich knowledge of young generation. The festival also is aimed at developing culture and art of Karakalpakstan, attracting attention of public attention to existing problems of the region and assisting to solve them.

Munojat Yulchiyeva, maqom singer and people’s artist of Uzbekistan, said the musical repertoire is prepared now. The compositions will present original texts of poets. She added that singers are working on improving their performance of traditional Uzbek musi.

Akbar Rahimov, member of "IJOD" Association of artists, art critics and craftsmen of Uzbekistan, stated that number of people, who wish to present their works of applied art, is increasing as it is good opportunity for them to present their works.

He said that the festival will also serve for rehabilitation of applied art of Karakalpakstan, which is famous for its carpets and jewellery. He expressed hope that number of masters will increase significantly after the festival.
