Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Olympic champion Akbar Djuraev, representing Uzbekistan, delivered a triumphant performance at the Asian Weightlifting Championships held in Jiangshan, China, securing three gold medals in the 109 kg weight category.

Djuraev posted outstanding results: 183 kg in the snatch, 223 kg in the clean and jerk, and a total of 406 kg in the combined event. According to the Uzbekistan Weightlifting Federation, this marked Djuraev’s first official competition since the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Another Uzbek weightlifter, Sharofiddin Amriddinov, claimed the silver medal with a total lift of 395 kg — 181 kg in the snatch and 214 kg in the clean and jerk. The bronze went to South Korea’s Jang Yong-hak, who lifted a total of 390 kg (178 kg + 212 kg).

As of 14 May, the Uzbek national team had won a total of 11 medals at the Asian Championships: 3 gold, 3 silver, and 5 bronze.
