Agricultural output of Uzbekistan increases by 5.8% in 1Q
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The volume of agricultural output in Uzbekistan grew by 5.8% year-on-year in January-March 2011, the Ministry of Economy and the State Statistics Committee said in a joint material.

The material said that new fruit trees were planted at the area of 14,400 hectares and grapes to 5,300 hectares within the programme on creation of new and reconstruction of existing gardens and vineyard. Over 11,100 hectares of gardens and 5,300 hectares of vineyards were reconstructed.

The measures on increasing efficiency of agricultural goods production ensured growth of vegetables output by 18%, meat – 6.5%, milk – 7.1% and eggs – 14.2%.

In the reporting period, Uzbekistan exported 77,000 tonnes of fruits and vegetables for US$125.6 million, including 54,800 tonnes of vegetables, 12,300 tonnes of fruits and 7,900 tonnes of grapes.

In the first three months, some 1,623 head of pedigree cattle were realized in the reporting period and 1,660 low-income families received cattle due to resources of the sponsors, NGOs and mahalla funds.

In the result, number of cattle in all categories of entities reached 9.1 million (+6.4% year-on-year), including 3.73 million cows (+5.8%). The country created 302 poultry entities.

Commercial banks issued 3.9 billion soums of loan resources to farm entities and agrifirms to finance signed agreements within the AgroMinitechExpo exhibition on purchase of mini and compact equipment.

Uzbekistan created 10 enterprises on deep processing food and vegetable, meat and dairy products, as well as five points for buying milk from population.
