Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The President of Uzbekistan has signed a decree titled "On Additional Measures to Improve the Fertility of Agricultural Lands and Create Favorable Conditions for Attracting Investments in the Sector."
The document introduces, on an experimental basis, a new system for allocating agricultural land, based on the principles of tenant independence and the prioritization of high-value crops.
Under the new procedure, land plots ranging from 3 to 50 hectares will be offered through electronic auctions on the E-auksion platform, while maintaining their integrity and existing irrigation systems. All individuals and legal entities residing in Uzbekistan, including enterprises with foreign investment, will be eligible to participate in these auctions, regardless of their place of residence, legal form, or ownership of other land plots.
The auction winner, upon obtaining land for lease, will receive not only the standard rights and obligations outlined in the Land Code but also additional opportunities.
Specifically, the leaseholder will be granted the right to a 49-year lease term, independent selection of crops, their varieties, and production volumes, the ability to sublease the leased land, and permission to establish agricultural facilities on peripheral zones covering up to 20 соток (0.2 hectares).
