Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As part of the visit of Tashkent delegation to China, a meeting was held of acting khokim of the capital Shavkat Umurzakov with the mayor of Shenzhen Qin Weizhong.

At the beginning of the meeting, Qin Weizhong said that he was glad to see the delegation in China and gave brief information about the performance of the city of Shenzhen.

In particular, he noted that Shenzhen ranks fourth among the economic centers of mainland China and is one of the country’s three leading financial centers, and also ranks second among Chinese cities in terms of industrial production.

Qin Weizhong expressed his readiness to cooperate with the city of Tashkent in matters of cultural exchange, development of the tourism sector, increasing the volume of foreign trade and investment.

Shavkat Umurzakov expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality and noted that friendship between Uzbekistan and China has a long history.

He noted that it is important for Tashkent to study the rich experience of Shenzhen and strengthen mutual cooperation. He emphasized that the historical relations between our countries have today reached a new strategic level, which is directly related to the political will and initiatives of the heads of state - President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping.

After that, he briefly spoke about the projects being implemented jointly with Chinese partners in Tashkent.

Then ShavkatUmurzakov spoke about the prospects for the development of Tashkent, made a number of proposals and offered to work together on their implementation.

The mayor of Shenzhen expressed support for all proposals and readiness for full assistance and cooperation.

Following the meeting, an agreement on establishing partnerships between the cities of Tashkent and Shenzhen was signed between the Tashkent khokimiyat and the Shanghai mayor’s office.
