AGMK receives a grant from South Korea for US$12 million

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 25 December, the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea decided to allocate a grant in the amount of 15 billion won (about US$12 million) to the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine.

Within the framework of this grant, an industrial experimental workshop will be created at the Uzbek-Korean Scientific and Technological Center of NGOs. Modern technological laboratory equipment will be purchased for it. The new workshop will carry out research work to modernize production, attract new technologies based on the program of commercialization of scientific developments.

A significant role in obtaining this grant was the scientific developments and presentations presented by specialists and scientists of the AGMK at the 17th International Symposium on New and Nanomaterials (ISNNM-2022), which was held from 14 to 18 November 2022 in Korea.

For reference, more than 20 countries participated in the event for this grant. When allocating a grant, the following conditions and factors were taken into account: stable production growth rates, integration of science and production, introduction of scientific developments, as well as achievements of scientific research by scientists.

This grant is allocated to Uzbek companies to create an infrastructure for preparing scientific developments for the commercialization and commercialization of metal processing technologies, attracting new technologies for the deep processing of rare metals and copper. Also, the purpose of the grant is to increase the scientific potential of the workforce of our country, as well as the opportunities of the private business sector between Korea and Uzbekistan.

The implementation of the project is scheduled for 2023-2027.

Within the framework of the project, pilot equipment will be delivered to the industrial experimental workshop of the Uzbek-Korean Scientific and Technological Center as part of the association and a joint research program will be implemented. Korean experts in the field of rare metals and the copper industry will work in Uzbekistan, and the plant's engineers will undergo training in Korea.
