Voluntary types of insurance brought in 66.97 billion soums or 67.1% of the total amount of insurance premiums compared to 93.2% last year and mandatory insurance - 32.83 billion soums or 32.9% up from 6.8%.
The hike in mandatory insurance premium collection stems from the introduction of mandatory liability insurance of the owners of motor vehicles introduced in October last year.
Five companies accounted 56% of total collected premiums. Uzagrosugurta led with 22.1% of collected premiums and Uzbekinvest followed with 13.4% share in total collected premiums. Kafolat (7.7%), UVT Insurance - (7.3%) and Ingo Uzbekistan (6%) were among leaders.
Total volume of insurance payouts in nine months of 2009 grew 2.4 times year-on-year to 14.4 billion soums. About 26.7% payouts fell to share of Uzagrosugurta and 26.6% to Uzbekinvest.
Uzbekistan currently has 29 general insurance companies, two life insurers, one re-insurer, three insurance brokers, one actuary company and five companies offering insurance assistance services.
In 2008 aggregate premium collection in Uzbekistan grew 18% 87.1 billion soums and insurance payouts 62.9% to 14.2 billion soums.
