Aggregate capital of Uzbek banks grows by 18.2%
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Implementation of measures on further increasing capitalization and strengthening resource base of the commercial banks ensured growth of aggregate capital by 18.2% in nine months of 2010 compared to the beginning of 2010, a publication of the Ministry of Economy of Uzbekistan and the State Property Committee of Uzbekistan.

Deposits of population in banks and credit unions rose by 41.9% in the reporting period. Share of term and saving deposits of population in total deposits of population in credit organizations made up 86.9%.

Further growth of capitalization and resource bases of banks allowed to increase total assets of the bank by 28.1% compared to 2010 and balance of loan investments by 32.8%.

In nine months of 2010, commercial banks of Uzbekistan issued loans for over 2.4 trillion soums to modernization and re-equipment of capacities, which is up 1.5 times year-on-year.

The commercial banks issued over 7.5 million banking payment cards as of 1 October 2010, or 2.5 million banking payment cards more year-on-year. The bank increased number of installed POS-terminals by 23,400 year-on-year to 65,000. Transaction volume with banking payment cards grew 2.5 times year-on-year in January-September 2009.

To support local exporters, the commercial banks issued loans for 275.5 billion soums to increase their turnover capital in nine months of 2010, which is up 1.7 times year-on-year.
