Aggregate capital of commercial banks in Uzbekistan grows by 46.4% in 1Q
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Aggregate capital of commercial banks in Uzbekistan grew by 46.4% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2010 and reached 3.3 trillion soums, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan said in its meeting dedicated to the results of banking system in January-March 2010.

Total assets of commercial banks increased by 33.3% year-on-year to 17.1 trillion soums in the reporting period.

Currently, the commercial banks allocated credit resources to basic industries of economy for 9.5 billion soums due to own and attracted resources.

The commercial banks in Uzbekistan issued loans for 737.2 billion soums to finance strategic investment projects, which is up 1.5 times year-on-year.

The volume of credits issued to small and private businesses rose by 1.4 times to 625.1 billion soums, the Central Bank said.

The deposits’ volume in Uzbekistan grew by 69.1% year-on-year to over 3.4 trillion soums.
