Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Afghanistan capital Kabul has been connected to central Asian states through Optic Fiber, Afghan Minister for Communication Amirzai Sangin said Wednesday.

While inaugurating 8,000 optic fiber telephones lines in the northern Kunduz province, he said the project had linked Kabul with Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

"With the completion of Optic Fiber project today Kabul is connected to Uzbekistan and Tajikistan," Sangin told reporters after inauguration ceremony of the project.

He also added that Kabul would be connected with Pakistan through Fiber project within months.

More than nine million out of the country’s 25 million population have access to telephone in the post-Taliban Afghanistan today, officials said.
