Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 16 March, in Tashkent, the Supreme Mufti of Uzbekistan Nuriddin Khaliknazarov received a delegation of 10 Afghan ulemas, the press service of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan said in a statement.

The delegation was led by the Minister of Hajj and Waqf of the Taliban government, Nur Mohammad Saqib.

Religious leaders discussed issues of cooperation among theological scientists and contacts in the field of scientific research.

There was also an exchange of experience on issues of mosques, madrassas and religious education.

The guests expressed gratitude for the historical traditions of Uzbekistan in the development of science and education.

The Afghan delegation visited the Hazrati Imam complex, where they got acquainted with the manuscript of the Koran from the period of the third righteous caliph Usman, the Center for Islamic Civilization and the Tashkent Islamic Institute.

The Afghan delegation also took part in Tarawih prayers at the Islamabad mosque.

The guests plan to visit Samarkand and Bukhara.
