Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation from the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock of Afghanistan is currently in Uzbekistan to strengthen cooperation in the field of agriculture.

Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan Ibrohim Abdurakhmanov received the delegation of Afghanistan. The parties discussed the use of drip irrigation, the development of horticulture, investment cooperation and other relevant topics.

The guests also met with the Vice-Rector for International Relations of the Tashkent State Agrarian University Abdulaziz Abduvosikhov. During the meeting, issues of cooperation in the field of education and advanced training of agricultural workers were discussed.

Representatives of the delegation met with the director of the Agency for Quarantine and Plant Protection under the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan Ibrahim Ergashev.

As part of the dialogue, issues of developing cooperation in the field of quarantine and plant protection, as well as the exchange of experience in ensuring the phytosanitary safety of agricultural products, were discussed.

Representatives of the delegation were familiarized with the history of the creation of the Agency, its modern experience and the conditions created within the framework of its activities. The meeting also became a platform for presenting the experience of Uzbekistan in developing a system of quarantine and plant protection in agriculture, as well as discussing issues of cooperation in the field of training qualified personnel for the industry.

Members of the Afghan delegation got acquainted with the work of the agency’s central phytosanitary laboratory.
