Additional requirements introduced for CNG stations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan has adopted a resolution titled “On Measures for the Rational Use of Natural Gas Resources”.

The document introduces measures for the full digitalization of compressed natural gas (CNG) sales through gas-filling compressor stations (CNG stations) for vehicle refueling. This initiative aims to prevent illegal gas usage and reduce the risk of accidents.

Starting from 1 September 2024, technical regulations governing the condition of technological processes and equipment specified in licenses for oil and gas extraction and processing (including compressed natural gas and liquefied hydrocarbon gas) will be implemented.

Technical specifications and licenses for connecting to natural gas networks for the construction of new CNG stations will only be issued with the consent of the Cabinet of Ministers and upon recommendation from the Ministry of Energy.

To obtain a license or permission, the following additional documents must be provided:

  • A document confirming the installation of a system developed by the Unified Integrator of State Systems LLC "UZINFOCOM," enabling real-time calculation of compressed gas consumption sold through CNG stations.

  • A petition from the Ministry of Energy confirming coordination with the Cabinet of Ministers for obtaining a new license for selling compressed gas through CNG stations.

For existing license holders, the requirement to connect to the "UZINFOCOM" automated systems will become mandatory by 1 January 2025.
