Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 1 August, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with a presentation on measures to increase reserves and increase the development of minerals.

In our country, due to the high attention to the geological sphere and the introduction of modern technologies, the possibilities for discovering underground resources have expanded. Foreign investors began to invest their capital in projects for the development and processing of these resources.

In particular, over the past six years, 15 new kaolin processing projects worth US$148 million have been launched. As a result, the volume of output of finished products from it increased almost 2 times, exports reached US$65 million. During the same period, the volume of coal production increased 1.4 times and reached 5.4 million tons.

During the presentation, information was provided on plans in the field of geology, including the increase in reserves of uranium, kaolin and coal.

It was noted that this year it is planned to produce 6.7 million tons of coal.

About 33 projects for US$620 million for kaolin are being implemented. Due to the production of high value-added products from this raw material, it is planned to increase exports to US$81 million this year and to US$180 million by 2030.

Also, together with foreign companies, exploration work will be continued to increase uranium reserves.

The head of state pointed out to responsible persons the opportunities for further improvement of indicators in these areas. The task was set to increase the volume of production, effectively using the existing raw material base, unique technologies and human resources.

Instructions were given to speed up exploration work by transferring 5 promising coal sites in Surkhandarya to the private sector, introducing technologies for improving the quality and sorting of coal mined in Angren.

The need to explore new kaolin deposits and increase its reserves to 200 million tons, increase the number of projects for the processing of this raw material was indicated.

Measures were determined to attract foreign investors to the development of hydrothermal and black shale uranium deposits.
