ADB to issue US$100m to Tashkent for sanitation vehicles
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will issue US$100 million to project on technical assistance in management of solid waste in Tashkent.

Local newspaper Pravda Vostoka reported that Tashkent city administration and Mahsustrans reached agreement on allocation of US$100 million to project on technical assistance in management of solid waste to update sanitation vehicles fleet.

Till 2016, within the implementation of the ADB projects, it is planned to open 520 new waste collection points. The city currently needs 7,000 containers with the capacity of 750 liters.

In January 2012, the ADB allocated US$700,000 to development of feasibility study of the project.

The publication said that MAN and ISUZU plants in Samarkand prepared experimental samples of sanitation vehicles, which are tested now.

The paper said that for last 14 year Tashkent has been using DAEWOO vehicles to collect waste, while their exploitation term is 10 years. Specialized cars and mechanisms transport annually 550,000-600,000 tonnes of solid waste, it added.
