Finance 18/06/2007 ADB delegation arrives in Uzbekistan to review country’s development

A delegation of the Board of Directors of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) started five day visit to Uzbekistan on 15 June, the ADB Resident Mission in Uzbekistan said in its press release.

The release said the ADB delegation is led by Patrick Pillon, Executive Director representing Belgium, France, Italy, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland.

The delegation will meet Uzbek Deputy Foreign Minister and Finance Minister Rustam Azimov, ADB governor from Uzbekistan Saidahmad Rakhimov and other senior officials of Uzbekistan to consider various issues on development of Uzbekistan and Central Asian region.

The ADB officials will also acquaint with projects, realized at assistance of the bank and directed to develop infrastructure and reconstruction of Oq Oltin farms in Syrdarya region, support of secondary-special education in Samarkand, improvement of manual production system, etc. The delegation will also meet heads of some Uzbek regions.

The delegation will meet representatives of international organizations, local and international businesses and NGOs to exchange opinion on investment climate and social development in Uzbekistan.
