“On behalf of the Asian Development Bank and all those, who participated in recent 43rd Annual Meeting of the ADB Board of Governors, I want to express my sincere congratulations to You, Your Government and people of Uzbekistan for excellent organization of the meeting”, the letter to the Uzbek leader reads.
The ADB chief expressed gratitude to the Uzbek leader and officials for intensive work and added that the meeting became one of the successful events in history of the ADB annual meetings.
Success of annual meeting clearly demonstrates correctness of the decision on holding the 43rd Annual Meeting of the ADB Board of Governors. This is good example of economic and social achievements of Uzbekistan, in particular efficiency of anti-crisis measures, soundness of the “Uzbek development model” and huge potential for future development, he said.
“Your welcome speech at the opening ceremony, especially Your strategic vision on post-crisis development in Uzbekistan and Asia as a whole were deep and far-sighted and highly evaluated by all participants of the session. I would like to express gratitude to Your Excellency for timely determining in Your speech further priorities of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the ADB, which will become our further action programme,” the ADB chief said.
Haruhiko Kuroda said the annual meeting significantly strengthened partnership between the ADB and Uzbekistan with signing of agreements for over US$1 billion, which almost doubled the volume of the ADB’s loan portfolio. ADB president said Uzbekistan will always be strategic partner for ADB in Central Asia.
At the leading role of Uzbekistan in the regional cooperation, the ADB will continue and strengthen its maximal assistance to the country, Kuroda added.
