ADB and Uzbekistan discuss development of CAREC 2030 Transport Strategy
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 21 April, a consultative meeting was held at the Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade with a mission from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to review the mid-term progress of the CAREC 2030 Transport Strategy. The delegation was led by Kanokpan Lao-Araia, the head of the ADB representative office in Uzbekistan.
The CAREC Transport Strategy was approved during the ministerial conference of the participating countries, which took place in Tashkent in October 2019.
The meeting was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change, the Ministry of Transport, the Road Committee, Tashshakhartranskhizmat JSC, Uzbekistan Airports JSC, Uzbekistan Railways JSC, as well as project implementation group leaders and other relevant bodies.
Participants discussed priority tasks for 2025-2026, including measures to increase the country’s export potential, enhance the competitiveness of national producers, digitize services in international trade and logistics, reduce harmful emissions, standardize regulatory frameworks, and integrate transport corridors and logistics centers into global supply chains.
As a result of the meeting, specific steps were outlined to improve the effectiveness of jointly implemented projects in trade, transport, and logistics, develop new foreign trade routes, conduct training programs for middle-level specialists, and introduce advanced technologies in the identified sectors.
