About 4,000 Uzbek citizens to perform Umrah pilgrimage

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- About 4,000 Muslims from Uzbekistan will make Umrah pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia during spring season of 2012, the Committee on Religious Affairs under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan said.

The committee said that the preparation to opening of Umrah-2012 spring season is underway. The pilgrims will perform Umrah from 1 March to 21 April 2012.

The committee said that mainly elder persons were selected to perform Umrah pilgrimage due to “weather conditions in Saudi Arabia and national mentality”.

The Committee on Religious Affairs underlined that currently piligrms are participating special educational seminars, which are conducted by representatives of the committee and Uzbekistan Muslims Board.
