State Committee on Demonopolization, Support of Competition and Entrepreneurship of Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Number of total registered small enterprises in Uzbekistan made up 436,300 as of 1 October 2008 or increased by 4% year-on-year, State Committee on Demonopolization, Support of Competition and Entrepreneurship of Uzbekistan said.

In nine months of 2008, 29,833 small businesses were registered in Uzbekistan, including 3,649 in industry, 12,089 in agriculture and forestry, 2,136 in construction, 1,113 in transportation and communication and 7,359 in trade and catering.

About 400,000 small businesses of total registered are operating.

The share of small businesses in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Uzbekistan rose from 43.1% to 45.3%.

The small businesses created over 303,400 new jobs in nine months of 2009.
