A team of schoolchildren from Namangan region became the best among the teams of Uzbekistan in the finals of the international championship “Formula of Intelligence”

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Last weekend, the final of the international championship in intellectual games among schoolchildren “Formula of Intelligence” took place. This year, 122 teams from Russia, Belarus, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan competed for victory online. In Uzbekistan, the event was organized at the Atomic Technology Information Center with the support of the Rosatom State Corporation.

The championship in intellectual games “Formula of Intelligence” is held among high school students according to the rules of the sports game “What? Where? When?". This year the championship was held for the ninth time. Schoolchildren of Uzbekistan are taking part in the “Formula of Intelligence” for the second year.

398 school teams from four countries took part in the regional stage of this year’s championship. 122 teams reached the finals. The finalists faced 36 questions devoted to physics, chemistry, history, popular culture, the Russian language and the nuclear industry, as well as fiction and biology. Schoolchildren had to guess what was mistakenly placed on a Cuban stamp next to penguins, what American children are still deprived of due to the peculiarities of the law, what verb has come into use even among Yandex employees, and what Vladimir Mayakovsky and the Izalco volcano have in common.

The winner of this year’s championship was the Karabashsky Craft Kvass team from Chelyabinsk, Russia, beating its closest competitors only in ratings. “Some questions are taken directly from reading, some from pure knowledge. The secret to successful preparation is training, experience and a good team. The friendly atmosphere in the team decides a lot,” said Anna Gordeeva, a member of the winning team.

Players from Astana, Kazakhstan shared their impressions. “Last year I helped the Atomic Technology Information Center organize intellectual games, and this year I decided to assemble my own team. Today we have second place among Kazakhstani teams - we will train and win next year,” said Elena Nakoskina, a student at Astana Lyceum School No. 35.

According to the results of the championship, the team from Namangan region became the leader among other teams from Uzbekistan. Mirzarakhimov Eldor, a student at school No. 67, says: “Our Hexagon team is from the city of Pap, Namangan region. When we learned about the international Formula of Intelligence tournament, we decided to take part. We were attracted by the opportunity to compete in knowledge and erudition not only within Uzbekistan, but also throughout the CIS. We like intellectual games, they broaden our horizons.”

Yan Sadkovsky, champion of Uzbekistan and Eurasia in the game “What? Where? When?”, coordinator of Ru-League Zakovat, comments: “This year the number of teams from Uzbekistan has increased significantly. If last year 25 teams took part in the qualifying rounds, this year 38 teams took part in the regional stage. We are also seeing some success. If last year our best team took 28th place in the international rankings, this year we doubled our result, sharing 13th and 14th places among 122 teams, and in total more than 300 teams took part in the tournament. In other words, the level of participation and interest of students is increasing. Separately, I would like to say about the Hexagon team from the Namangan region, which won the Uzbek competition. This team plays in two languages: Russian and Uzbek. The day after our tournament, the guys won the Uzbekistan Championship in the Uzbek language. I think that next year, the geography of participants from Uzbekistan will become even wider due to schoolchildren from other regions.”
