Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Ministry of Economy and Finance organized a roundtable discussion for investors on "Investment prospects and taxation of the mining industry in Uzbekistan" with the participation of experts from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

In it, the Department of Tax and Customs Policy and Revenue Forecast headed by the Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Akhadbek Khaidarov, Department of Economy, Finance and Tariff Policy of Enterprises of Basic Sectors and Sectors, Devision of development of mining and metallurgical industry, formation of material balances and representatives of a number of organizations participated.

Jean-Francois Wen, senior economist of the Fund's Fiscal Policy Department, head of the mission, Alistair Watson, an international expert of the IMF, and several investors took part from abroad.

The roundtable discussion was opened by the Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Akhadbek Khaidarov with his introduction. The deputy minister informed the audience about the systemic reforms being implemented in our country and the wide opportunities created for investors.

After that, the foreign side brought their presentations to the attention of the participants. In addition, special attention was paid to issues of taxation during geological exploration and mineral extraction.

Opinions were exchanged about Uzbekistan's experience in taxation of geological exploration and extraction of minerals.

At the end of the roundtable discussion, the parties agreed to further intensify such consultations and meetings.
