Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 6 July, under the chairmanship of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Kuchkarov, a round table was held on the topic "Small and medium-sized businesses and microfinance in Uzbekistan". The event was held at the Trilliant Hotel in Tashkent.

It was attended by the Head of the World Bank Office in Uzbekistan Marco Mantovanelli, representatives of international financial institutions, and a number of experts from Germany, Japan, and Singapore.

The round table consisted of three parts, in the first part, an exchange of views took place on the development of a new strategy for the development of small and medium-sized businesses in Uzbekistan, including economic policy, financial inclusion, a competitive environment focused on youth and women, digital and innovative entrepreneurship.

During the event, lessons learned from the reforms carried out, important areas for the development of small and medium-sized businesses and improving the efficiency of the use of financial resources were considered.

The second part discussed the further development of the microfinance sector, improving the financial capabilities of small and medium-sized businesses, increasing the role of microfinance institutions in increasing financial inclusiveness, the results of social support programs for small and medium-sized businesses and the prospects for their commercialization.

A review of the latest developments, the next stage of microfinance and recommendations for improving the use of financial resources for the development of micro, small and medium businesses was heard.

The third part of the round table included an interactive dialogue with international experts and local entrepreneurs. It heard and consolidated the opinion of entrepreneurs in the context of the development of small and medium-sized businesses and microfinance in Uzbekistan.
