Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 21 June 2024, the IV meeting of the Uzbek-Kyrgyz Interparliamentary Cooperation Commission was held in Cholpon-Ata. On the Uzbek side, the co-chairman of the commission is the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan S. Safoev. From the Kyrgyz side - Vice Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of Kyrgyzstan N. Azygaliev.

The parties, in an open and constructive atmosphere, reviewed the state and prospects for the development of bilateral relations, issues of expanding inter-parliamentary relations, strengthening interregional and cross-border cooperation, and promoting the practical implementation of Uzbek-Kyrgyz agreements at the highest level. Upcoming important events of the interstate and interparliamentary format were also discussed.

Information was heard on the progress of the implementation of the Interparliamentary Cooperation Plan for 2024, as well as reports from the heads of the border regions of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.

A detailed exchange of views took place regarding the promotion of joint initiatives on topical issues of the development of parliamentarism, strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation between the countries of the Central Asian region, and mutual support within the framework of international inter-parliamentary structures.

As a result of the meeting, a set of agreements was reached on further building up inter-parliamentary cooperation, intensifying interaction at all levels of representative authorities of the two countries, specific joint events and the organization of mutual visits of parliamentary delegations were planned.
