Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The 9th meeting of the Commission on Cooperation of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation was held in Bukhara.

The meeting participants discussed the state and prospects for further development and deepening of interparliamentary and interregional cooperation. The agenda also included questions about the role of the upper houses of parliament in strengthening cooperation between public and religious organizations of the two countries, labor migration and the education sector.

During the negotiations, views were exchanged on the issues of digitalization of the legislative process and establishing cooperation in the field of studying the experience of digital transformation of the economy.

Members of the commission expressed the opinion on the need to actively use the mechanisms of parliamentary diplomacy to facilitate the implementation of high-level agreements reached between Uzbekistan and Russia, as well as to ensure effective interaction between the regions of the two countries.

As a result of the meeting, an Agreement was signed on the establishment of sister city relations between the city of Bukhara of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the city of Derbent of the Republic of Dagestan of the Russian Federation.
