A project for the construction of the Tashkent-Samarkand toll road has been developed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – A project for the construction of the Tashkent-Samarkand toll road has been developed. This is stated by the Main Directorate of Highways of Samarkand Region.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) allocated grant funds in the amount of $350,000 for the development of the original technical and economic document of the project.

With these funds, the Austrian company ILF Consulting Engineers Austria GmbH has developed the initial feasibility study of the project.

EBRD hired ProyaPı Mühendislik ve Müşvirlik A.Ş to develop a feasibility study for this projec. The cost of developing a feasibility study amounted to US$1.5 million at the expense of grant funds.

According to the Main Directorate of Roads of Samarkand Region, the Turkish company Proyapı Mühendislik ve Müşvirlik A.Ş. won the tender for the development of project documentation. A contract worth 1 million euros was signed.

To date, the consultant has submitted a preliminary report and draft pre-investment study. The documents were accepted by the working group.

The total length of the toll road between Tashkent and Samarkand will be 305 km. The project will be built taking into account the requirements of a 6-lane highway that meets international standards.

It is also planned to build new bridges and overpasses over all interchanges and structures, and install an intelligent transport system.

As a result of the construction of the Tashkent-Samarkand toll road, the traffic flow will be redistributed.

The load capacity of the road surface according to international standards is 13 tons, the service life of the road is 25 years.

In April 2019, the President of Uzbekistan signed a resolution on the construction of the Tashkent-Samarkand with participation of the consortium Cengiz Enerji, Kalyon and Kolin.
