A presentation of the economic and investment potential of Uzbekistan takes place in India

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the round table organized by the Embassy of Uzbekistan and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), the investment potential of our country was presented, Dunyo news agency reported.

FICCI was founded in 1927 and is one of the largest business organizations in India. The structure provides services to the private and public sectors, transnational companies.

The event was attended by representatives of such leading Indian companies as Hinduja Group, Ashok Leyland, Larson&Tubro, Cipla, and others.

Ambassador of Uzbekistan Sardor Rustamboev spoke in detail about the results of large-scale reforms implemented in our country in recent years, including the created favorable environment for trade and economic activity, benefits and preferences provided to foreign entrepreneurs and investors, the export potential of the republic, the successful experience of Indian companies in Uzbekistan. The diplomat paid special attention to the current state and prospects of Uzbek-Indian business cooperation, and also said that a large delegation of Indian businessmen is expected to participate in the III Tashkent International Investment Forum in May of this year.

The founder of the Sundev Renewables company, Devin Narang, emphasized that Indian-Uzbek trade and economic relations are developing consistently, especially over the past 6-7 years, interaction between businessmen of the two countries has risen to a qualitatively new level. Noting existing untapped opportunities to further develop these ties, he called for joint efforts to accelerate bilateral economic and investment cooperation.

During the round table, which took place in the form of live communication, an exchange of views took place on the possibilities and prospects for mutual cooperation. In particular, the head of the department of the Hinduja Group conglomerate Suren Alimchandani spoke about the company’s interest in implementing a joint project for the production of automobile motor oils in Uzbekistan, as well as the purchase of Uzbek mineral fertilizers, and said that within the framework of the upcoming Tashkent International Investment Forum he would hold negotiations on these questions.

Marketing Director of MIER Group Gopal Sood stated that they are well aware of the achievements of Uzbekistan in the field of agriculture, and the company is now studying the prospects for implementing joint projects in the food industry.

“India and Uzbekistan have long-term ties of cooperation,” said FICCI Secretary General Shailesh Pathak. “Therefore, it is no coincidence that Tashkent was chosen to host the next meeting of the Central Asia – India Business Council this year.” There are ample opportunities for fruitful cooperation between entrepreneurs of the two countries in the fields of agriculture, education, healthcare, tourism, renewable energy, textiles, the automotive industry, the production of electric vehicles and many others.

During negotiations with the Secretary General of FICCI, issues of further strengthening relations between this federation and business structures of Uzbekistan were discussed.

“FICCI has more than 250 thousand members throughout India,” continued Shailesh Pathak. – We are ready to provide practical assistance in finding reliable and promising partners in India for companies and entrepreneurs operating in Tashkent, Samarkand or other regions of Uzbekistan. We also host an annual media and entertainment event called "FICCI Frames". Such popular film actors as Shahrukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor and others take part in them. We are pleased to invite Uzbekistan to become a partner country for our next event.
