Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A new tunnel has opened in Tashkent at the intersection of Yangi Uzbekiston street and 4R12 highway, which will allow drivers heading towards Chimgan to avoid stopping at the intersection.

According to the Traffic Safety Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan, the first stage of construction of a transport interchange at the intersection of Yangi Uzbekiston Street and the 4R12 highway at the exit from Tashkent has been completed.

The tunnel is intended for cars moving in the direction of the Chimgan Mountains and the Charvak reservoir in the Bostanlyk district of the Tashkent region. To enter the tunnel, drivers must turn off the road to the right.

Now drivers will be able to avoid waiting at the intersection, where on weekends they often have to stand at traffic lights, the Traffic Safety Inspectorate notes.

For traffic moving in the opposite direction, there is an exit from road 4R12 to Yangi Uzbekiston Street.

Passage through the tunnel is prohibited for heavy vehicles and vehicles transporting dangerous goods. These vehicles must cross the intersection.
