Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A project to build a modern wastewater treatment facility will be implemented in the Kuyichirchik district of Tashkent region.
On 13 August 2024, a Joint Development Agreement (JDA) was signed between the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan, JSC "Uzsuvtaminot," and the companies Abu Dhabi Sustainable Water Solutions (UAE), SUEZ (France), and Marubeni (Japan).
Abu Dhabi Sustainable Water Solutions (SWS) is the only company in the UAE specializing in the collection, treatment, and recycling of wastewater. Its network, spanning 12,000 km, handles more than 1,341,000 m³ of water daily, supported by over 200 pumping stations and 42 treatment plants. SWS aims to reduce the burden on natural water resources and promote sustainable development in the UAE.
The project will be carried out by a consortium of companies, including French SUEZ and Japanese Marubeni, chosen as the technological partners of SWS.
According to the preliminary parameters, the facility’s capacity in the first phase will be 1,000,000 m³ per day, with the possibility of increasing to 1.5 million m³. The project also includes the construction of a 42 km long collector for efficient wastewater collection and transportation to the treatment facility.
The implementation will feature SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems and GIS (Geographic Information Systems), ensuring effective monitoring and management of the wastewater treatment and transportation processes.
During the ceremony, it was noted that the project will provide centralized wastewater management for residents, businesses, and organizations in Tashkent region. This will improve public health and the environmental situation in the area and will save over 10 million kWh of electricity.
