A modern school to prepare a worthy successor to Oksana Chusovitina

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A three-time world champion in artistic gymnastics, World Cup winner Oksana Chusovitina is the pride of Uzbekistan. She is listed in the Guinness World Records as the only gymnast to compete in eight Olympic Games.

The athlete’s success and determination serve as an example and motivation for children. The President’s resolution of 14 March 2022, on the organization of Oksana Chusovitina’s gymnastics school further expanded the opportunities for realizing the potential of young people.

Today, the Head of state visited this sports school and became acquainted with the conditions and training process.

The educational institution aims to train international-level athletes for national teams, organize the educational and training process at the level of international standards with the involvement of highly qualified specialists, and constantly improve the skills of coaches and gymnasts. All conditions have been created for this in a three-story modern building.

On the ground floor, there is a main hall, training room, gym, medical office, and dining room. There is a 165-bed dormitory, a hotel, computer science and spirituality classes on the upper floors. The school is equipped with equipment from Germany.

The school is designed for 105 students in grades 5-11. Today, 91 children are studying here. They are taught two foreign languages. Young gymnasts attend general education lessons at neighboring school No. 175.

The successors of Chusovitina’s work last year won 4 medals at international competitions in artistic and rhythmic gymnastics, 6 medals at national tournaments, and 24 medals at competitions between sports schools.

The main thing is that young gymnasts live, study, and train in one place. This sports school will become the country’s only education and training base for gymnasts.

A meeting was also held here with the participation of officials in the sports sector and regional leaders via videoconference.

“Why do we pay great attention to this area and create schools? Gymnastics is the basis of all sports. Both a football player and a boxer and everyone who cares about health should do gymnastics. If, together with the development of the economy and education through sports, our country will have a healthy generation, a healthy nation”, the President said.

In this regard, issues of the widespread introduction of gymnastics starting from kindergartens and organizing the selection of talented athletes from this stage, creating two gymnastics schools in each region, were discussed.

Instructions were given to create all the necessary conditions for preparation for athletes and their coaches who will compete at the Olympic Games in France this year.
