A Memorandum of Cooperation Aimed at Promoting Healthy Habits and Ecological Awareness Among the Younger Generation Signed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The "European Economy Days in Uzbekistan" forum, organized by the Europe-Uzbekistan Economic Cooperation Association (EUROUZ) and the Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, formalized a significant event for promoting healthy lifestyle education and ecological awareness in Uzbekistan.

The document brings together efforts from both public and private sectors to inspire the younger generation to care for the environment, develop a conscious attitude towards nature, and adopt healthy lifestyle habits.

"The memorandum between Nestlé and the government of Uzbekistan is aimed at raising awareness about proper nutrition and the importance of living a healthy lifestyle, as well as understanding the ecological consequences of our food choices. We all know the negative impact that an unbalanced diet can have on our health, and the environmental problems caused by uncontrolled food systems," said Konstantin Obolensky, Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation to Uzbekistan.

The "Health Routes" program, which has reached over 35 schools in six regions of Uzbekistan in the 2023-2024 academic year, will be expanded nationwide in 2024-2025.

"Today’s children grow up in the context of global climate change, environmental pollution, and the need to care for their health. The memorandum is aimed at helping children understand these challenges from an early age by teaching them principles of ecological culture and conscious living," said Aziz Abdukhaimov, Minister of Ecology, Environment Protection, and Climate Change of Uzbekistan.

The signed memorandum foresees joint efforts in teaching children the basics of ecological thinking, principles of healthy eating, and lifestyle, while increasing awareness of the importance of protecting nature.

"The signing of the memorandum is an important step for Uzbekistan in creating a more conscious and healthy future, where care for health and nature will be passed down from generation to generation. We are confident that, together with our partners, we can raise a generation for whom healthy habits will become part of everyday life," emphasized representatives from the Ministry of Preschool and School Education of Uzbekistan.

The memorandum will be implemented as part of the "Health Routes" educational program (global initiative "Nestlé for Healthier Kids"), which includes a special ecological module. The project is carried out in schools across the country under the methodological guidance of the Ministry of Preschool and School Education of Uzbekistan. Classes are aimed at children aged 7-8 and are part of the core curriculum in "Natural Sciences."

"Participation in initiatives under the signed document will provide children with simple and clear knowledge about healthy eating and active lifestyles, which will positively impact their well-being and long-term health. Familiarity with environmental protection initiatives from an early age will instill lasting habits that will stay with them for life," said Sergey Lyusyuk, CEO of Nestlé in Uzbekistan (IP LLC "Nestlé Food").
