Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Sodik Safoev received Member of the European Parliament, Rapporteur on Uzbekistan Ilhan Kyuchyuk. This was reported by the Senate press service.

As is known, mutually beneficial multilateral cooperation has been established between Uzbekistan and the European Union in all areas. Dialogue is carried out consistently at all levels. A number of agreements have been reached to expand relations in the economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian spheres, and important events are being carried out in these areas. In recent years, the volume of mutual trade has been growing rapidly thanks to the GSP+ procedure offered by Europe.

The Member of the European Parliament particularly noted the support for the irreversible reforms being carried out in our country.

He welcomed Uzbekistan’s efforts to strengthen stability, security, achieve prosperity, and develop human rights institutions and civil society in Central Asia.

The dynamic development of bilateral interparliamentary cooperation was positively assessed.

An exchange of views took place on the active use of existing mechanisms of interparliamentary cooperation in the country, in particular, the Committee on Parliamentary Cooperation “Uzbekistan - European Union”.

Following the meeting, the parties reached an agreement on further expansion of relations between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the European Parliament.
