A meeting was held with representatives of a Singaporean company working on the optimization of the Tashkent International Airport

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 8 June, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism with representatives of the Changi Airports International delegation to discuss further cooperation.

The dialogue was attended by First Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Ulugbek Azamov, Chairman of the Board of JSC "Uzbekistan Airports" Rano Juraeva and representatives of the delegation of the company "Changi Airports International".

For information, Singapore’s Changi Airport was built in 1981, and in 30 years, annual passenger traffic has increased from 8 million to 60 million. Changi Airports International was established to provide aviation consulting services, project management and global investment projects as the airport’s operations attracted airports around the world due to the many requests for consulting services.

On 24 May 2023, as part of the Uzbek-Singapore business forum, held on the eve of the visit to Uzbekistan of the President of Singapore, Halimah Yacub, a cooperation agreement was signed between Uzbekistan Airports JSC and Changi Airports International.

As part of the cooperation agreement, work is underway to optimize the activities of the Tashkent International Airport named after Islam Karimov, including increasing the competitiveness and quality of passenger service, introducing advanced technologies and increasing passenger traffic, as well as developing the technical and economic foundations for the project of the new Tashkent International Airport.

At the beginning of the meeting, representatives of the delegation of Changi Airports International were provided with detailed information about the tourism potential of our country, ongoing reforms in the field of tourism, including the growth in recent years in the number of visa-free countries from 9 to 91 in connection with the policy introduced in Uzbekistan " open doors” and provided benefits in the field of aviation.

During the negotiations, the foreign side reported on the processes of researching the market of Uzbekistan, as well as its plans to optimize the existing Tashkent International Airport.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to develop a step-by-step plan of joint actions to accelerate the implementation of all the agreements under discussion.
