A meeting was held with a delegation of the World Bank to discuss support for reforms in the gas sector of Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Deputy Minister Bobur Khodjaev met with the World Bank delegation headed by Robert van der Gist, Senior Gas Specialist, at the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

The Uzbek side was represented at the meeting by Khurshed Mustafaev, Director of the Department of Economy, Finance and Tariff Policy of Basic Industries, Fuel and Energy Complex and Mining and Metallurgical Enterprises. The foreign side was represented by Natalie Bravo, Senior Gas Sector Consultant, Rohila Yuldasheva, Energy Consultant, and Bakhodir Amonov, Energy Specialist.

During the meeting, the World Bank representatives focused on the current progress of reforms in the gas sector since the Roadmap was provided. The purpose of the meeting was to gain a deeper understanding of the changes that have taken place over the last three years in the sector.

An important part of the discussion was the priority actions and measures to be taken to accelerate further reforms in Uzbekistan's gas sector. In particular, measures aimed at creating a competitive and open gas market, adapting to international standards and attracting investments were discussed. The participants expressed their determination to promote the development of a sustainable and innovative gas sector in the country.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the sides emphasised the importance of cooperation and exchange of experience between different stakeholders in the gas industry. Uzbekistan welcomes investments and partnerships to promote further development and modernisation of the gas sector.
