A meeting takes place with the Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 7 December 2022, during the visit of the head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan Davron Vakhabov to the UAE, a meeting was held with the Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry Abdallah Sultan Al Owais.

The Emirate of Sharjah is the industrial center of the UAE. The emirate’s industrial output accounts for 48% of the UAE’s total industrial output, making it the country’s leading emirate. The emirate is a major trade and logistics center with 3 seaports, 19 industrial zones and 2 free economic zones. The existing infrastructure and favorable business climate allow the emirate to annually produce products and services worth $60 billion, half of which is exported.

The main types of goods exported from the emirate are machinery and equipment, building materials, steel products, and plastics. Export is carried out to Saudi Arabia, Oman, neighboring emirates, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait and India.

During the meeting, the parties discussed in detail the prospects for interaction between the enterprises of the emirate of Sharjah and Uzbekistan, including in such sectors as trade (re-export to third countries), pharmaceuticals, green energy, wastewater treatment (industrial enterprises) and the textile industry.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on organizing joint work to establish production with the participation of enterprises from both countries both in the territory of the special economic zones of Uzbekistan and the emirate of Sharjah, on the deep processing of raw materials and the supply of manufactured products to the countries of the Middle East and North Africa.

The parties also agreed to take the necessary measures to maximize the involvement of entrepreneurs from both sides to participate in the cooperation exchange (in the B2B format), planned to be held in January 2023 in the UAE, and other events held in both countries, the press service of the CCI of Uzbekistan said.
