A meeting of the Council of Heads of Customs Services of the CIS Member States was held in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 26 April 2024, the 78th meeting of the Council of Heads of Customs Services of the CIS Member States was held in Tashkent (Republic of Uzbekistan), in which the heads of customs services of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of the CIS Executive Committee participated.

On behalf of the CIS Executive Committee, Deputy Secretary General of the CIS I.T. Nematov delivered a welcoming speech.

At the beginning of his speech, Ilkhom Nematov expressed sincere gratitude to the Government, the Chairman of the Customs Committee of the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the excellent organization of the Council meeting. This was reported by the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.

The CIS Deputy Secretary General said that last year the Commonwealth of Independent States celebrated the 32nd anniversary of its formation. Undoubtedly, the past years have not been easy for the establishment and recognition of the Commonwealth as a full-fledged international organization by the world community. Today we can say with confidence that all the republics of the former union taking part in the work of the Commonwealth have established themselves as sovereign states and have embarked on the path of stable development.

Ilkhom Nematov paid special attention to the implementation of the provisions of the Concept of the Chairmanship of the Russian Federation in the CIS and increasing the efficiency of industry cooperation bodies operating in the economic sphere.

He noted the importance of the work carried out by the Council and the relevance of the issues being considered regarding the prospects for the development of cooperation between the customs services of the CIS countries and interaction on the most important issues of mutual interest.

During the meeting, a number of issues of interdepartmental interaction were considered and agreed upon, including the practice of using navigation seals to track transportation, the Memorandum of Understanding between the customs services of the CIS member states on simplifying transit transportation, the development of a draft Protocol on the creation of a transit portal for the customs services of the states - CIS participants. In addition, the progress in agreeing on three draft agreements being developed by the Council was reviewed.

The acting head of the Federal Customs Service, R.V. Davydov, was elected as the Chairman of the Council of Heads of Customs Services of the CIS Member States; the Head of the Customs Cooperation Department of the Federal Customs Service, D.G. Subochev, was appointed as the Secretary.

The next 79th meeting of the Council is proposed to be held in September 2024 in Vladivostok (Russian Federation).
