A meeting of the Coordinating Committee on Engineering Support under the Council of Ministers of Defense of the CIS States was held in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 22 June, the fourteenth meeting of the Coordinating Committee on Engineering Support under the Council of Ministers of Defense of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States was held in Tashkent under the chairmanship of the Chief of Engineering Troops of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Lieutenant General Yuri Stavitsky. This was reported by the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.

Representatives of the engineering troops (services) of the armed forces of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the Secretariat of the Council of Ministers of Defense of the CIS member states took part in the work of the Committee.

In accordance with the adopted agenda, the meeting participants considered topical issues in the field of engineering support for the national armed forces, humanitarian demining, training of engineering troops and practical aspects of military cooperation.

The report on the experience of accomplishing the tasks of clearing territories and objects during the Special Military Operation, which is of particular practical importance in modern conditions, aroused professional interest among the meeting participants.

The results of the activities of the base organizations of the CIS member states - the International Mine Action Order of the Kutuzov Center of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation for training specialists in the field of mine clearance and the Tyumen Higher Military Engineering Command Order of the Kutuzov School named after Marshal of Engineering Troops A.I. Proshlyakov for training military personnel for engineering troops of the armed forces of the CIS member states were considered.

The chiefs of engineering troops (services) paid special attention to the discussion of a set of issues of interaction between national engineering troops in the framework of the implementation of the Agreement on the Joint Engineering Unit for Humanitarian Demining of the Armed Forces of the CIS Member States dated December 18, 2020.

In particular, they analyzed the process of formation of the national structures of the Joint Engineering Unit for Humanitarian Demining, the degree of their readiness to carry out tasks for their intended purpose and the readiness of national engineering units for joint actions.

In the course of joint work, an exchange of experience in practical activities to improve the military professional skills of military personnel and special training of units and units of engineering troops took place. Interaction in this direction will continue in the course of preparation and holding in 2024 of the international competitions "Open Water", "Safe Route" and "Engineering Formula", organized as part of the International Army Games.

The decisions adopted by the Committee are aimed at increasing the combat capabilities and coherence of the units of the engineering troops of the armed forces of the CIS member states.
