A meeting of ministers of health of the OTS countries and the World Turkic Medical Congress starts in Samarkand

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, on 16 August, Samarkand is hosting a meeting of health ministers of the countries of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) and the 9th World Turkic Medical Congress. It is attended by the ministers of health not only of the countries participating in the OTS, but also of Tatarstan, Dunyo news agency reports.

The congress was opened with an opening speech by the khokim of Samarkand region Erkinjon Turdimov, who spoke about the significance, goals of today’s event and expected results.

After that, the General Secretary of the OTS Kubanychbek Omuraliev made a speech and greeted the guests of the event.

The Minister of Health of Uzbekistan Amrillo Inoyatov also spoke at the event, who stressed that today’s event takes place on the birthday of an outstanding scientist, the founder of modern medicine, our great ancestor Abu Ali ibn Sino, who was born in the ancient land of Maverannahr.

With his discoveries, this outstanding scientist brought such areas of medicine as anatomy, psychology, pharmacology, therapy, surgery, diagnostics, and hygiene to a new level.

His instructions on the detection, treatment and prevention of diseases of a thousand years ago have not lost their relevance today, as humanity is convinced again and again.

The meeting is also attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps, rectors and professors of leading higher medical educational institutions, heads of prestigious medical clinics, research institutes, specialized medical centers, large pharmaceutical and medical companies, scientists from around the world.

The participants of the meeting will discuss cooperation in the field of healthcare, issues on the implementation of joint projects and increasing the existing potential of the participating countries in the development of medical sciences.

The forum will last until 17 August.
